June 4th, 2019, it was the day I saw one of the 7 wonder of the world, Machu Piccu... It was a lost city till about 1911 Hiram Bingham found it in the middle of jungle.
My journey started by taking 2 hours train from Ollantaytambo, writing, listening music and enjoying the view, as I sat on the aisle. Then met my guide at the train station of Machu Piccu or Aguas Calientes, Marcelino. Left some luggage to rep hotel Casa del Sol then we took the bus to entrance of Machu Piccu. The bus trip passing the cloud mountains were magnificent, beautiful. After 30 mnt we arrived at the Machu Piccu itself, got a stamp then entering the site! Very excited!
After passing all the ticket checking with passport, as the name should be the same… here we go… first we passed the range of cloud mountains, a different type of Andean mountain with many vegetation as a lot of rains here and humid. Then climbing up the stairs, there are not many stairs but many people which made it a bit difficult to keep your own pace and remember it is on altitude at least 2400 m. But we got there… the first view of Machu Piccu after passing also the real Inca trail. I had a great time really learning the detail of this civilization and what they built here in Machu Piccu with Marcelino, as I had a private guide.
Still very impressive and guess what the quarry was in the same mountain. The Temple of the sun is not on the highest place, but the inti watana, which is the sort of Inca calendar. The temple of the sun has 2 windows, one facing the east and the other one facing the sun gate which is at the other mountain.
The houses which has more than 1 entrances are some kind of working area and the one with one entrance is a house. All houses have windows and also niche to put something on. Some of the houses have a second floor which they used for storage and therefore there are some ventilation too. The roof they used some kind of grass that grows on high altitude too.
There is a place which called espejos del agua, mirror of the water which is believed as the astronomical room, where they use the water to observe the sun and the stars. They also build the temple of condor, which using the big stones to make the wings and carved the head on the floor.
I also learned that the terraces are not only built for plantation but also as foundation against the landslides. At a certain place, these landslides around looks like a pyramid. Everything was very interesting for me, I admire this civilization...
