In the South of the Netherland, to be exact in Arcen village, There is a beautiful garden by the castle with the same name: https://www.kasteeltuinen.nl/nl/.
I have been there a couple years ago and this year I went back there to see two things: 1. The art exposition of William Sweetlove about plastic and 2. Enjoy the light festival to end the season. And last but not least, to spend the day with my good friend, Jo.
I was there around 15.30 in the afternoon, I did not expect for sun shinning, as it was October, but at least dry. I started by visiting the castle and different rooms with displays. When I was in the castle, Jo called me so I met her at the entrance and we walked into the garden without the map, just folowing our instinct. It was fun. We found the red plastics arts from Sweetlove, many koi carper fish in the pond and even flamingos.
Around 18.00, we supposed to leave the garden, as the lighting expert would prepare their evening exposition. So we went to the village for dinner at Maasparel. This village is really at the river bank and this Maasparel hotel & restaurant offers a suite room with river Meuse (Maas) as the view: https://www.maasparel.nl/
I think it is very cute. I had soup and fish for dinner then we could get our to go dessert from the best ice cream of the South of Netherlands, Clevers: https://www.clevers.nl/contact/ijssalon-arcen/
With that dessert, we walked back to the garden for our next adventure. Indeed, it was an evening adventure, walking in the dark with only candle lit the path and enjoying the lighting art. :-)
