In February 2019, I joined a walking group trip to South of Portugal, Faro-Tavira (Algarve) areas. My hotel was in the green area outside the village Tavira, about 2.5 km walking through the city and the rural salt pan area.
As Tavira is the closest city, I visited this city pretty often, the first day I went around by myself visiting two churches, climbing the towers and then walked back to the hotel passing some nice salt pans and nature area. Only today I walked 8.75 km and had about 1.5 L port wine in my backpack on the way back.
I was in this area for about a week, I visited different places and had a walk, like Isla Tavira, Castro Marim, Alcoutim, Querenca and also the big city Faro. I enjoyed very much every walking trip here. I saw the flamingos, only three but I could get hem on my camera! Flamingo, according to me, is a very gracious bird, long leg, long neck and likes shrimps, like me, for the shrimps part.
As I mentioned that I joined a group which the participants were mostly much older than me, except the guide, Carolijn, she was about the same age as me. By talking and listening to them, I learnt something: We cannot know people from the look, but when you talk to them, then you now more what kind a person they are. I understood it as: do not judge people from their look!
This trip was a gift trip for myself, to enjoy, relax and have time for myself after the big life event that I had about one year before. After the whole day walking, I could relax myself in the Jacuzzi and sauna of the hotel then I drank a glass of port wine (my favorite wine) in my terrace while enjoying the sunset. What a life, isn't it?
