When you come to Peru, you will be introduced to Inca civilization, which I think they are amazing civilization. My learning point about Inca started in Argentina, about the children sacrifice but here in Peru I learnt about their living style.
June 3rd, 2019, from Cuzco, I took a touristic bus which its first stop was Chincero village, it was an old village with the first church in this area. The market under the church was full of souvenir sellers using traditional clothes. In the church, I can see a mix culture between Catholic, Jesuit and Inca culture, by looking at the dress of the statues for example. Inca culture honored Pacha Mama, mother of earth and it is Mother Mary in Catholic, so all the church would have her as the main focus as well.
From there we went to living museum of Yucay where we can learn about Peruvian textile and natural color, for example cochinilla that gives red color and by adding salt, it can change to purple; and the jewelry made from different stones and pearl. There are also all 4 different types of the lama families. Lama is a domesticated animal and it is quite big, the wild one is called Guanaco. Alpaca is smaller than lama and more fluffy, it is also domesticated animal and the wild one is Vicuna.
After the museum, we went to Ollantaytambo, there we had Peruvian lunch and also to visit the ancient terraces for plantation, including the irrigation. Others buildings found there are guard house, temple of the sun, temple of the water, inca watana (inca clock), storage house which were built at the other mountain, etc. The storage house is on top of the mountain and with a good ventilation to keep the food cool. This archeological site is facing to the east and surround by the mountain, on top of the mountain, therefore the Inca do not need to build the pyramid like the Aztec or Maya civilization.
When I was there, I felt again small and amazed by this Inca civilization on how they built this plantation and storage house on the mountain. I saw the quarry located at the other mountain at the back and also there was a ramp built to transport the big stones from the quarry to its place. On the top, I gave myself some time to enjoy the surrounding, without taking any pictures, just sitting down. It felt so peaceful and open, as I could see far away and I felt the sun on my face, warming up my face but also my heart. I feel so blessed to be able to see this place.
I stayed overnight in Urubamba, Casa Andina hotel. It was a beautiful hotel with many activities. I could feed the baby lamas with milk and in the evening I went to their stars observatory. From the telescope I could see Jupiter, as the biggest planet with only 4 satellites and Saturn with the ring. On the telescope, it was small but you can also make pictures with long exposure time. It was very interesting evening to end the day...
