On May 30th, 2019, I was in Lima, Peru. I am always thinking about the name of Lima as it means 5 in Indonesian. It’s a special name and I got a special welcome there also, that costs my Iphone.
My hotel was in Miraflores area, one of the expensive residential area, it is a nice area, it felt safe and I do not exaggerating my appearance either. In the morning, before breakfast I went first walking to the center of Miraflores to take some money and pictures around. Then I waited for Viviana to go on city tour.
We’re 5 tourists, a couple from Madrid, father and son from Arnhem: Raymond and Royan. Lima is a big city and city full of archeological sites and of course Spanish influence can also be seen everywhere, the houses and what is remarkable is the olive garden which they maintain it very well. Then we went to Plaza Mayor to see the cathedral, Casa Aliaga and to Museum Larco where they explained about different indigenous culture. In that museum, they also have a humongous collection of the potteries that those people used, including the erotic pottery.
Since I stayed in Miraflores area, so I should do the cliff walk there, passing different parks, like light house park and love park, parque del amore. Parque del amore has a bench, copy of the work of Bench Gaudi in Barcelona. Also beautiful but this bench also distracted me while taking pictures and I didn’t feel when somebody took my phone from my pocket. This was the special welcome of Lima.
Raymond & Royan accompanied me to get a report from the nearest police station, as I just got blacked out, did not know what to do. I got the letter, I blocked my number and I erased the Iphone via my apple id but the phone has to be connected to the internet. I also reported the lost to my travel insurance. So I think I have done everything I could and hope the best my data in that phone would be safe.
Beautiful city depsite the iphone. Be strong Alfi!
