I‘m still flabbergasted actually... so we travelled to Swaziland (Eswatini) on Thursday, 27 Feb and stayed 1 day there. I didn't know and didn’t expect this...

1.2 million people living in this small country, they live on agriculture and tourism, emalangene is the currency which is the same value as south african rand. They speak swati and english language. 1795 Swaziland became a kingdom and it is still one of the poorest country in southern africa. Here, the man has to have 2 wives otherwise he goes to jail and the king has 15 wives. The meaning of the color of the flag: red means blood, blue means peace, yellow means resources and the shield means protection.

After we went out from South Africa via the immigration office, we’re at no man’s land where we visited sort of cultural center. There we learned about the living tradition and they did dance and singing performance. Their living tradition is kind of polygamy where the man has absolute power and can marry with many wives as long he could pay about 15 cows per wive. The man decided when to have sex with his wives and in the bedroom the woman has to come to the man crawling. The village that we visited, the chief’s name is Mr.Shong has 2 wives only but 25 children.

The hotel, to my surprised, we stayed was very beautiful, it has a golf course, casino, gym, squash and spa. This hotel is located at Izulini area, which is business district with governmental offices, hotels and embassies. Here, the Swaziland parliament building was built as well with a logo of lion and elephant. It means lion is the king and elephant is the mother of the king, but the lion is the most powerful. The royal family is catholic, so not far from the parliament building is the Catholic church of the royal family with limited congregation. Next to the church is the house of Abogogo (house of ancestor), which was a national museum before.

The guide said that criminality is quite low here because the prison is very bad, no bed, only given a pillow and a blanket and got breakfast only. The lunch and dinner should be prepared by the family.
