Monday in Bergen, I decided to find Stoltzekleiven and climbed it. It contains about uneven 722 stair to have a beautiful view of Sandvikken and Byfjorden, but enough to call it never ending stairs for me. These stairs start at Fjellveien, it took me about 1 hour to walk from my hotel and found the start of these stairs. But it was a nice walk, passing several housing passages, the Hanseatic hall with a pond. After a long walk, I was very excited to find the start of the stairs. Here we go, took the picture of the sign and moved on. Then only stairs and stairs, of course with here and there some views of the downhill and the open water with Bergen’s archipelagos. Then I saw the sign that I mis-understood it, I thought it says: you passed already 511 stair and 209 more to go, and I don’t care if they were not summed up to 722. So my motivation went up and I speeded up a bit to the top. Then I felt like this is never ending 209 stairs, still different type of stairs, some wooden clear stairs, some uneven stairs, some just stones, small stones, big stones… but still stairs. Then I realised that the sign, actually says that you are half way to the small waterfall which on 209 m above the sea level and 511 steps from the top of Stoltzekleiven. Not giving up yet, I just kept going, passed one person and another then I saw a nice wooden floor with a clear opening, light… Hurray! My time is 28 minutes to the top, including taking pictures and whining. I can be proud of myself! I sat on the stone on the top, taking some pictures and enjoying the view. It is an open view where you can see without any limit to any directions and I was lucky as it was a very clear day and warm. I continued to direction of Mount Floyen then went down by the funicular. I have done another hike in this area earlier this week but I’m still amazed by what the nature can offer. It seems that the nature is dynamic, never be the same, never dull and very almighty, meaning a lot to offer than what human can absorb with our senses at one time.
