Three Gili- Gili around Lombok

Gili means island and gili- gili means many islands, that's Indonesian language, to say it in plural, just repeat the word. :-)

When I was in Lombok last week, I visited 3 small islands to do snorkeling. They are located at Bali sea on the north-west of the island: Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. This order is the closest one till the farthest from Lombok island, and that was I did.

In Gili Air, the middle size island from the three, I saw mainly fish, tropical sea fish. I'm not sure about the names, I'm so bad in that. However, the guide brought some white bread therefore the fish came to us. Most fish are biting softly the bread from my fingers, but not the blue one.

After finished feeding the fish ;-) we moved to the smallest island, Gili Meno. Here you can see, also fish but 16 hugging pairs statues under the water. They placed there in order to create a man made reef where coral can grow. It has also another meaning: circle of life, to connect the human and marine life. As it supposes to be the place where coral to grow, we should not touch it. I didn't but others did in order to take a closer picture with it.

The statues place is quite popular, I think the only place in Lombok that I had surrounded by so many people. ;-) The last stop would Gili Trawangan, where there is a deeper coral formation and we saw sea turtles, 3 of them, all male one. Yeah, you can tell by seeing a small tail behind it. I swam above the turtle following him, it was a great feeling... They are also cute when they come to the surface to get air. They have beautiful shinny skin/ leather. I think they are green turtle.
